Do you have a dog who is not interested in their food? Do you want to make your dog’s food more delicious and appealing?

If so, you are not alone. Many dog owners struggle with finding the right food for their furry friends, especially if they have picky eaters.

Dogs can be picky for various reasons, such as boredom, health issues, allergies, or preferences.

Sometimes, they may simply not like the taste or texture of their food.

Fortunately, there are some easy ways to make your dog’s food more delicious without compromising their nutrition or health.

In this article, we will share some tips and tricks on what sauce can i add to dog food to make it taste better.

What Can You Put in Your Dog’s Food to Make It Taste Better?

There are many things you can add to your dog’s food to make it more delicious and enticing.

However, before you do so, make sure that the ingredients are safe and suitable for your dog.

Some foods that are good for humans can be toxic or harmful for dogs, such as chocolate, grapes, onions, garlic, and xylitol.

Here are some of the things you can put in your dog’s food to make it taste better:

    Sauces

One of the easiest ways to make your dog’s food more delicious is to add some sauce to it.

Sauces can add moisture, flavor, and aroma to dry kibble or canned food. However, not all sauces are suitable for dogs.

Some sauces may contain too much salt, sugar, fat, or spices that can irritate your dog’s stomach or cause health problems.

One of the most popular sauces for dogs is bone broth. Bone broth is a nutritious liquid made by simmering bones and vegetables in water for a long time.

To make bone broth for your dog, you will need:

    • Bones (chicken, beef, turkey, lamb, etc.)
    • Water
    • Apple cider vinegar
    • Vegetables (carrots, celery, parsley, etc.)

To make bone broth for your dog:

    1. Place the bones in a large pot and cover them with water.
    2. Add a splash of apple cider vinegar to help extract the nutrients from the bones.
    3. Bring the water to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer.
    4. Simmer the bones for at least 12 hours (up to 24 hours) on low heat.
    5. Add the vegetables in the last hour of cooking.
    6. Strain the broth and discard the bones and vegetables.
    7. Let the broth cool completely and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer.

You can add a spoonful of bone broth to your dog’s food once or twice a day as a sauce. You can also serve it as a drink or a treat for your dog.

To use coconut milk as a sauce for your dog’s food:

    1. Buy unsweetened coconut milk from the store or make your own by blending coconut flesh and water.
    2. Shake the coconut milk well before opening it.
    3. Add a small amount of coconut milk (about 1/4 cup) to your dog’s food and mix well.
    4. Store the leftover coconut milk in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer.

    Supplements

Another way to make your dog’s food more delicious is to add some supplements to it.

Supplements can provide your dog with extra nutrients, antioxidants, and benefits that can improve their health and well-being.

However, not all supplements are suitable for dogs. Some supplements may interact with your dog’s medication or cause adverse effects.

To use fish oil, coconut oil, or flaxseed oil as supplements for your dog’s food:

    1. Buy high-quality fish oil, coconut oil, or flaxseed oil from the store or online.
    2. Check the dosage instructions on the label and consult your vet if you have any questions or concerns.
    3. Add the recommended amount of oil to your dog’s food and mix well.
    4. Store the oil in a cool, dark place away from heat and light.

    Fruits and Vegetables

Another way to make your dog’s food more delicious is to add some fruits and vegetables to it.

Fruits and vegetables can add vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber to your dog’s diet.

They can also help with digestion and hydration. However, not all fruits and vegetables are safe for dogs.

Some fruits and vegetables can be toxic or harmful for dogs, such as grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, and avocado.

To use fruits and vegetables as additions to your dog’s food:

    1. Wash the fruits and vegetables well and remove any seeds, stems, pits, or peels.
    2. Cut the fruits and vegetables into small pieces that are easy for your dog to chew and digest.
    3. Add a small amount of fruits and vegetables (about 1/4 cup) to your dog’s food and mix well.
    4. Store the leftover fruits and vegetables in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer.

    Meat and Eggs

Another way to make your dog’s food more delicious is to add some meat and eggs to it.

Meat and eggs are excellent sources of protein that can support your dog’s muscles, bones, organs, and immune system.

They can also provide essential amino acids that your dog may not get from their regular food.

To use meat and eggs as additions to your dog’s food:

    1. Buy high-quality meat and eggs from the store or online.
    2. Cook the meat and eggs well until they are no longer pink or runny.
    3. Cut the meat into small pieces that are easy for your dog to chew and digest.
    4. Add a small amount of meat or eggs (about 1/4 cup) to your dog’s food and mix well.
    5. Store the leftover meat or eggs in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer.
